ITWorx Develops a Content Management Solution for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Website

Dubai Media Office manages the personal website of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The website contains many sections about His Highness, his vision, the future of Dubai, the anthology of his poems and publications, as well as many other relevant areas.

The website revamping included complete website recreation through empowering the website with a strong content management system using the latest Vignette technology, V7, adding new sections to the website, and creating an attractive user interface. The aim of these major changes was to deliver new modern designs or add new interactive sections available to website users and give the Media Office the ability to manage and operate the website’s different content areas expeditiously. This process makes it easier, faster, and more controllable to manage changes and cope with the high pace of UAE and Dubai’s modern life. Sheikh Al Maktoum’s Content Management Application is deployed over a robust, expandable, and load-balanced infrastructure that is highly available and designed to sustain various loads and traffic patterns. The solution is provided in Arabic and English and is carefully designed to enable additional languages in the future. The ITWorx team managed to recreate all of the website sections as content-managed items based on Vignette components, making them much easier to work with and allowing the site to be more robust. Moreover, the team provided a two-step workflow module that allowed Dubai Media Office users to manage editing, approving, and publishing their content, thus minimizing the time and effort required to publish the content. Although this project faced an aggressive timeline, the ITWorx team successfully migrated thousands of content items using Vignette technology in a very short period. It is also worth mentioning that the website was awarded “Website of the Year” for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa during the Vignette Village 2008 conference October 20-22 in Austin, Texas.
